Rhea C. Ebbelaar14 Feb 1914-15 Feb 1997
Rhea was born in Amsterdam, Holland. On April 21, 1936 she married Gerard
Ebbelaar. They owned and operated a neighborhood convenience store in Amsterdam
until after World War II. In 1949, with her husband and four children, Rhea
immigrated to Canada. They farmed there until moving to Sunnyside, Washington,
USA, in 1957. Rhea and Gerard owned a dairy farm in Outlook, WA, until
1977 when their son purchased it. Rhea loved people and working with them.
She worked at the Safari in Sunnyside for years and then cooked for the
local Head Start Program. After the death of her husband in 1976, Rhea retired
for one month. Her love of people soon prompted her to purchase the Candy
Connection in Sunnyside, which she operated until January 1993 when failing
health forced her to finally retire for good. This is submitted by her birth
granddaughter who was reunited with the family three months too late. "He
put His arms around you and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best."
